The figures in the centre of this tomb slab represent a text from Isaiah Chapter 1, verse 2, in the Old Testament. This appears in Emblems Divine and Moral by Francis Quarles in 1639. The winged figure depicts Cupid trimming the flame of human lust, and the other, a jester is trying to extinguish the sun with a pair of bellows. 17th century. On display at Arboath Abbey, Angus.
