Edward Brown (d.1801) was Harbour Master of Leith and member of Trinity House. Brown's extensive knowledge of the North Sea played a key role in piloting the fleet to victory on board the HMS Venerable at the battle of Camperdown in 1797. This 19th Century portrait by John Blair is an copy in oil from a watercolour taken from 'The Life at Leith' by Daniel Orme.
