Employees of Dallas Dhu Distillery, 1920. The Manager, Boswell James Fairley is seated beside the barrel on the front row. To the right of him are the maltmen with the wooden shovels that they used for turning the barley to help germinate it prior to the distilling process. J P O'Brien & Co Ltd of Glasgow operated the distillery for a brief period after the First World War before the company went into liquidation in 1921. Whisky continued to be produced at Dallas Dhu by subsequent owners up to 1983.
