Object Detail

Carved for St Andrews Cathedral in the 1200s, this was probably part of a full length figure of Christ. Worked in fine-grain sandstone, traces of red colouring suggest it was once highly coloured. The back of the head is relatively unworked, indicating that the figure was set against or within another feature such as a niche.
