Extensive painted wall plaster was discovered when the interior of Kinneil House was stripped in the 1930s. These once formed the richly decorated interiors fitted out by the Hamilton family in the late 1500s and early 1600s. The ceilings of the Arbour Room, depicting trees and foliage, and Parable Room, illustrating biblical scenes, are particularly well preserved. This is one of over 70 detached plaster fragments in the collection.
