One of a group of forgery dies made from mutton bone by French prisoners of the Napoleonic War, c.1810. Engraved with the figure of Scotia, a thistle and cornucopia, this die would have been used to forge the Bank of Scotland's seal, which was incorporated into its banknotes at this time. On loan from the Museum on the Mound.
