Wooden door from the French Prisons at Edinburgh Castle where prisoners of the American War of Independence (1775-1783) were held. Their graffiti on the door include depictions of Lord Nord [North], the British Prime Minister on the scaffold and one of the earliest representations of the stars and stripes flag flying from the stern of a two-masted ship.
