Object Detail

Originally standing two metres high, this stone would have been rectangular with crosses on both sides. It appears to have been cut at a later date to emphasise the shape of the cross. Monks in hooded vestments, one with a book satchel, are shown to the left of the cross. To the right are two figures sitting on high backed chairs; they probably represent St Anthony and St Paul breaking bread in the desert, who appear elsewhere in Pictish Christian art.
