Object Detail

The ruby forms part of the secondary honours and the Stewart Jewels. It is surmounted by twenty-six small diamonds set in silver. The head of the Ring is polished gold with engraved scroll work immediately next to the diamonds. The shoulders of the Ring are also engraved. The shank can be adjusted to fit varying sizes of fingers. The ring was the final item bequeathed by Cardinal York. In its centre is a large, but very thin ruby, engraved with the cross of St George and foiled behind to provide additional depth of colour. On loan from Her Majesty the Queen.
